Qualifications and Experience
I completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology at The Institute of Education, London and consequently hold Graduate Basis of Registration with the British Psychological Society.
I trained in Integrative Child Psychotherapy at The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (‘IATE’) where I was awarded Distinction. IATE’s Chief Executive and Co-Director is Margot Sunderland who is a British Medical Association award winning author and a leading figure in child mental health.
I am qualified in counselling and in the therapeutic use of art and play. I am a registered member of The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education and the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP).
My particular areas of interest are infant brain development, the neuroscience of attachment, trauma and how our bodies react under emotional stress. My training and continued professional development includes a variety of psychotherapeutic theories and interventions, from leaders in the field of attachment, psychotherapy, psychology, neuroscience and psychiatry. These include Dr. D. Hughes, Dr. B. Perry, Dr. J. Pansepp, Dr. A. Schore, Dr. D. Siegel and Dr. B. van der Kolk.
In addition to working as therapist, I also undertake roles as a Supervisor; Tutor and Examiner on Child Counselling courses. I am qualified in the Solihull Approach, Mellow Parenting and Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) methods for individual and group work.
I facilitated The Friendly Group alongside Psychologist and Author, Anita. M. Hughes (Making Friends: How the Friendly Group Supports Children and Young People on the Autism Spectrum)
I have experience of educational and psychiatric settings and I have provided evidence to court in a professional capacity. I am up to date with current legislation for child safeguarding and child safeguarding procedures, including Child Protection Conferences, Child Protection Plans, Child and Family Plans and Early Help.
I adhere to General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (Membership Number: ZA347065).
